club night

Club night  is on the 26th of February

This time it's "Bring along a model Night"

Announcing the 2012 1066MFC Photo Competition

Following the fantastic turn out of Media over 2011 in our Annual Photo Competition, and sheer amount of activity and interest it generated we felt duty-bound to hold such a competition this year.

After much deliberation the Committee have fine-tuned the guidelines and rules for this year’s Photo Competition. We tried not to over complicate things and keep the format simple for us and those having the difficult task of judging all the wonderful media entries.

Please remember, to submit as many photos as you like but do only submit 1 photo of each subject, if you’ve taken 20 great pictures of you’re Piper Cub, we only want see the best one (we don’t want to see all 20). If you’ve taken an Aerial Photo of the strip, then just pick you’re best one and upload this.

Before you do upload, please rename the image file so that it starts with the Category name that you wish to enter the picture in.

For example “Pauls Cub” would read “Model Static Pauls Cub”

The Categories:

Video

Full size Static

Full size Flying

Model Static

Model Air to Air

Model Air to ground

Club Life

The Old Contemptible (A poem sent in by a member)

When work it seems never ending

The daily grind

The kids

Out spending

Looking forward to weekend flying

The only time that you’re not grafting

Batteries charged on Friday night

For an early start and that first flight.

You wake up early your heart a flutter

You hear the wife, with lowly mutter

It’s raining, may be hail

No flying today it’s blowing a gale

Then you think of those other geeks

That other lot who fly all week.

No restriction when they fly

Just bide their time until its dry

They served their time in far off days

Grafted hard for little pay

Baby boomers and even older

Now in flux and not much solder!

They had it good

I hear you say

No.. We were balsa bashers of the past

Simple planes that had to last

No ARTF no two point four

Just control line

Free flight

And little more

Now we come with creaking limbs

Across the fields of Bulverhythe

That ancient marsh of yester year

To fly once more.

We may have time to fly and dream

To pick the days when wind is slim

But remember you will have your day

And then I hear you say.

“They were right you know

Work wasn’t bad”

And now those old boys of yore

Are flying, flying forever more.

Anon.

Wow.. look at this, we have poetic rivalry  in a poem response  to the above.

Works not so bad we hear you say.

There’ll come the time when we’ll have our day

But bear in mind we’re now in a fix

As the latest is, we’ll be sixty six.

The ill informed might think we have plenty

But to enjoy our endeavours we might even be seventy!

Your creaking limbs may be supported with sticks made of wood

But the truth of it is, you’ve never had it so good

The reality is , when it’s our day to fly

All we'll be fit for, is to curl up and bloody die!!!
